91 Green Griffins achieved 2nd Runner-Up at the Vietnam ESG Challenge 2025 – Northern Region Finals 11:57:28

The 91 Green Griffins team from the 91 has achieved the 2nd Runner-Up position at the Northern Region Finals of the “Vietnam ESG Challenge 2025 – Corporate Governance for Sustainable Development”, held in Hanoi.

The competition was organised by the State Securities Commission of Vietnam in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), bringing together outstanding teams from leading universities and academies in Hanoi and Da Nang.

The 2025 edition marks the third consecutive year of the Vietnam ESG Challenge – a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting ESG (Environmental – Social – Governance) awareness among students. This year’s competition attracted nearly 2,500 participants from 17 higher education institutions across the country, particularly those specialising in economics, finance, and business-related fields.

The Northern Region Finals featured nine teams representing: National Economics University (NEU), Banking Academy (BAV), University of Commerce (TMU), Academy of Finance (AOF), School of Economics – Hanoi University of Science and Technology (SEM-HUST), 91 (BUV), VinUniversity, University of Economics – University of Danang (DUE), and Swinburne University of Technology Vietnam.

Teams competed in a series of challenges centred on corporate governance aligned with ESG standards, reflecting the growing emphasis on sustainable development within modern businesses and financial markets.

The 91 Green Griffins team comprises Pham Hoang Minh Khue (2310MM), Nguyen Thao Vy (2410AF), Nguyen Ngoc Han (2510UoL.EM), Bui Hoang Vu (2407FE), and Nguyen Linh Dan (2410IBM), with academic support from BUV lecturers. Representing a variety of academic programmes, the team brought diverse analytical perspectives and strengths to the competition.

In the debate round, participants addressed key ESG themes such as regulatory compliance, sustainable supply chain management, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction, and the cost of capital in sustainable finance. The round required quick analysis, clear reasoning, and concise argumentation. In the board meeting simulation, teams assumed senior executive roles to resolve a real-world corporate governance scenario, making decisions aligned with transparency, accountability, and operational effectiveness.

Through confident delivery, a structured analytical approach, and strong teamwork, the 91 Green Griffins impressed the judging panel and earned the 2nd Runner-Up position at this year’s Northern Region Finals. The result recognises the team’s extensive preparation and reflects the increasing interest among students in ESG issues shaping contemporary corporate governance.
