British degrees are known all around the world for both their quality, and the benefits that they bring to graduates both in the UK, and overseas. 91做厙 (BUV) is proud of the role it holds in representing the quality of a British degree within Vietnam by being the first and only international institution awarding British degree certificates in-country.

At BUV, we are partnered with two high-quality UK institutions; Staffordshire University, and University of London who award students their final degree after having being taught at BUV. In order for us to do this, we are regularly assessed by both universities to ensure that we meet their exacting standards, which are governed by UK Government and endorsed by the Quality Assurance Agency who grant permission for degrees to be offered and ensure that the quality of the institutions and their awards are of the highest level.

All of our full-time international faculty have significant teaching and/or industry experience in countries such as the UK, Canada and the USA amongst many others and we use this broad range of teaching skills and backgrounds to enhance the education we provide to our students. The teaching that our faculty provide is based on UK teaching principles designed to encourage students to develop their own knowledge and critical thinking skills in order to apply this to the real world. A British degree is not simply memorising facts as this is not what international employers are looking for.

This level of quality also extends to what we expect from our students. A British degree is a passport to many opportunities, but it is not easily obtained. We expect students to meet our rigorous standards relating to attendance, attitude to work and academic integrity.

BUV is accredited by a range of international organisations at both University and Programme level. These accreditations demonstrate the quality of both the degrees and the experiences that students can gain at BUV.

Quality Assurance

91做厙 (BUV) has become the first university in Vietnam to be awarded global quality accreditation by QAA after successfully completing its International Quality Review (IQR).

IQR is a rigorous process which benchmarks global higher education institutions against international quality assurance standards set out in Part 1 of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

The review was performed between 17 and 19 October 2022 by three independent reviewers appointed by QAA who found that BUV had met all of the 10 ESG Standards and Guidelines.

As part of the review, QAA identified the following areas of good practice at BUV:

  • Significant employer engagement and connections with civic society is actively facilitated by all internal stakeholders, including students. It is fundamental to enabling BUV to deliver its mission.
  • Opportunities and support for students in preparing for, identifying, and participating in work placements and internships, as formal components of programmes and as extracurricular activities, greatly enhances job readiness and employability.
  • Certified and comprehensive Personal Development Programme of activities and modules that enhance students broader knowledge and personal development, help to define graduate attributes.

The University of London is one of the oldest universities in the UK, founded in 1836. It has an international student body with over 170, 000 students worldwide. BUV is proud to be the first and only educational institution in Vietnam to provide students with the opportunity to study the International Foundation Programme from the University of London (UoL), as well as the BSc (Hons) Banking and Finance programmes from UoL, with academic leadership provided by the London School of Economics (LSE). LSE is one of the 17 colleges of UoL and is ranked as the 5th best university in the UK. University of London collaborates closely with BUV in terms of managing and controlling the quality of teaching, course content and provides an extensive shared online library to bring our students a genuine UK learning experience. Students who complete the degree are awarded a prestigious and internationally recognised qualification from the University of London.

Founded in 1967, the University of Stirling is committed to providing education with a purpose and carrying out research which has a positive impact on communities across the globe.

Stirling is 4th in Scotland and 43rd in the UK for research impact, with 87% of its research having an outstanding or very considerable impact on society and more than 80% rated either world leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).

The University has twice been recognised with a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for its Institute for Social Marketing and Health (2014) and its Institute of Aquaculture (2019).

Arts University Bournemouth

Established in 1883, Arts University Bournemouth is a creative specialist arts institution offering courses in art, design media and performance. The University’s creative community comprises of more than 4,000 students from across its 24 undergraduate courses and 15 postgraduate courses.

A recipient of two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise for Costume and Film, the University is home to Bournemouth Film School, with Oscar, BAFTA and Turner Prize-winning alumni, as well as globally recognised talents in fashion and styling.

ACCA

Quality Assurance

Upon completion of the Staffordshire University BA (Hons.) Accounting and Finance programme, graduates can gain exemptions for a number of examinations as they continue their journey to become professional accountants through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Graduates of the BA (Hons.) Accounting and Finance programme are exempted from the following ACCA exams:

ICAEW

Quality Assurance

To further support 91做厙 students on their journeys in the accounting professions, BUV has gained accreditation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for students on the Staffordshire University BA (Hons.) Accounting and Finance programme. BUV graduates can gain exemptions for five of the six modules at the certificate level of the ICAEW-ACA qualification. This is an important step for students wishing to continue onto ACA training and become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. Subject to the satisfactory completion of course modules, students can obtain the following exemptions:

  • Accounting
  • Assurance
  • Business, Technology & Finance (Students who graduate with a 2:1 or above)
  • Management Information
  • Principles of Taxation

To obtain a standalone ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB), BUV graduates are awarded the following four of the maximum five exemptions available:

  • Assurance
  • Business, Technology & Finance (Students who graduate with a 2:1 or above)
  • Management Information
  • Principles of Taxation

There are no exam exemptions available for the Accounting module for the ICAEW-CFAB as all students must sit for this exam.

AWS Academy

Quality Assurance

As an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy member institution, BUV can offer authorized AWS courses to students who wish to gain micro-credentials in the area of cloud computing. These courses are offered as part of BUVs professional skills programmes offered by Student Experience Department and are available to any BUV student. As a CISCO Academy, BUV has access to a comprehensive technology skills and career building programme with a global reputation for preparing people for success in a connected world. These courses are offered as part of BUVs professional skills programmes offered by Student Experience Department and are available to any BUV student. Quality Assurance

The Chartered Management Institute (CM) is the premier organisation in the UK who are dedicated to raising the quality and standard of management in the workplace, and are the only UK organisation who are able to award Chartered status in the management profession.

Beginning from 2022, students on the BSc. (Hons.) International Business Management (IBM), and Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes will gain Affiliate membership of the CMI during their course of study.

This provides access to CMIs online learning portal and extensive library, the Career Development Centre and access to the CMI Mentoring Service and face-face and digital networking events.

  • Graduates of the IBM programme will gain a CMI certificate of Continuing Professional Development as recognition of their studies if they wish to continue to gain CMI certifications upon graduation.
  • Graduates of the MBA programme will gain accreditation of prior learning and will also receive a highly regarded CMI Qualification (CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice). These can both be used if students wish to progress to Chartered Manager status.

Attendance for all formal teaching is compulsory and we expect our students to attend any teaching sessions, classes or tutorials during their programme. Statistics of students attendance are recorded and monitored by the responsible Student Information Officer. To fulfil the attendance requirement for BUV, students are requested to be in the teaching room at the scheduled start time ready to study.

Students register attendance on the Facial Recognition System (FRS) up to 15 minutes before the start of the class and up to 4 minutes 59 seconds after the timetabled start of the class. Students also register attendance on the FRS up to 15 minutes before the end of the session and up to 4 minutes 59 seconds after the timetabled end of the session. Students do not need to register attendance if they leave and return during the session for toilet breaks. The session may be one, two or three hours as defined in the students timetable.

For online classes & conferences: Students register attendance by being available in the online conference up to 15 minutes before the start of the class and up to 4 minutes 59 seconds after the timetabled start of the class and are only allowed to leave the conference up to 15 minutes before the end of the session and up to 4 minutes 59 seconds after the timetabled end of the session. Students register attendance also by maintaining participation rate in the online conference during the entire duration of the class; taking polls, quizzes & activities requested by the lecturers. Students will only sign out when the conference is over and do not need to sign out during toilet breaks & class breaks. The session may be one, two or three hours as defined in the students timetable.

Depending on the number of missing hours and the required hours of respective module, different Intervention levels (04 levels) will be applied. Student might be required to meet Personal Tutor (PT) or Student Success Lead (SSL) to be informed on how the attendance process works, encouraged to attend fully, and receive support if necessary.

If students are absent excessively, parents/fee payer will be notified via email and student might face more serious consequences such as failing the module or temporary suspension. Those interventions may significantly affect students study plan at BUV.

In addition to lectures and tutorial sessions, students will be required to engage in at least 10 hours of independent study per subject each week. This will include a considerable amount of time reading required textbooks, studying and evaluating hand-outs, working on homework assignments, preparing for class work, revising for tests, and working in groups with fellow students on various projects. This requires students to learn to keep a strict time management plan which is essential to their engagement and success on the programme.

Attendance for all formal teaching is compulsory so students should prioritise their University attendance and their study sessions over other activities such as internships, extra-curricular activities, volunteer work and leisure travel.

On some occasions, owing to illness or other unforeseen events, absence may be unavoidable. If a students absence is due to illness or other medical matters, he/she must complete an absence form and submit it together with appropriate valid medical evidence such as a medical certificate from a doctor and/or confirmation from parents. The form and evidence must be handed in immediately upon the students return to the University. Forms/ evidence submitted more than two days after return to University will not be considered.

If a student wishes to apply for excused absence, for example to attend an important family matter, then the student should complete a requested absence form in advance detailing clearly the reason for absence request together with available evidence and/or confirmation from parents for approval by the Programme Leader. Retrospective requests (requests after the date of absence) will not be considered or approved.

For longer periods of absence, the student will need to claim extenuating circumstances as it would affect his/her study performance. In this case, it is essential to discuss this with his/her Personal Tutor in advance.

The BUV Bus is currently a student support service and therefore 91做厙 students will not have to register or pay any extra fee to use this service. BUV currently provides bus routes from designated points in 04 districts of Hanoi direct to BUV Ecopark Campus: Hai Ba Trung, Cau Giay, Tay Ho and Ha Dong. The schedule will be sent to students on Friday weekly with the updated schedule for the week after. Bus usage guidelines will be sent to students via their BUV student email before first day of the semester.

The bus supplier also offers a GPS Tracking System which provides students an easy way to track if the bus is running as planned or not. GPS log in information will be provided weekly via email depending on the bus arrangement.

Punctuality is held highly at BUV. We do not expect our students to be more than 4 minutes 59 seconds minutes late in any circumstances, especially for classes. If the student does check-in to classes later than 459, he/she will still be marked as absence for that class. The student should also maintain in the class until the end of the session as mentioned in the Attendance record rules mentioned in Question 1 in order to get full hours of attendance. Leaving the class earlier than 15 minutes before end time without lecturers approval will make the student marked as absence.

Additionally, British degrees involve a two-way flow of information and full participation of students active learning, therefore, if a student fails to be active in class (prepare before class, participate in class activities, polls, and assignments, etc.), he/she might be marked as unattended.

From this semester onwards, the University will introduce the Opt-out and Opt-in Attendance Tracking Option for Fee-Payers, where parents can choose to only be informed when students attendance falls to an alarming level and actions need to be taken.

At the beginning of an academic semester, parents will be asked whether to opt-in or opt-out of the attendance tracking process of their children at the University. The Student Information Office (SIO) will provide detailed explanation and support with relevant paperwork to be filled and submitted from parents throughout the process. An official notice will be issued by the SIO to inform students and their parents regarding their decision on attendance tracking opt-in/ opt-out, and students attendance tracking process will be carried out in accordance with the decision.

If parents decided for the opt-in attendance tracking option, parents will be informed of all notices and warnings regarding the students attendance record, from minor to highly serious level of incidents (Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 warnings).

If parents wish to opt-out of the attendance tracking, only when students contact hours level in the program is severely low and reached a warning of Level 4, then the University will send a notice to inform parents about the situation. There will be no notice sent to parents regarding students attendance warning Level 1, 2 and 3.

Students are placed on Academic Probation (AP) for a period of time, usually a semester, if their behaviour, participation in class, timekeeping or attendance does not meet the required standards expected at BUV. Students will have the process explained to them in a meeting and parents are notified by letter. Students will take an AP form with them to each class and the Module Leader or Tutorial Leader for that class will confirm by signature that the student has met the requirements of their probation in class. Completed forms are returned to the Student Information Office at the end of each week and a report is prepared for the Chief Academic Officer and Deputy Chief Academic Officer.

The AP system helps students to understand the importance of complying with the behaviour expected of a BUV student and if the student completes the AP process successfully, they are returned to normal academic status. If the student is unable to successfully complete the process successfully the situation would be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the Chief Academic Officer.

The Exchange Programme is a programme that lasts from 1 semester to a maximum of 2 semesters at one of BUVs University Partners. Students are required to return to BUV by the end of their final semester to complete the programme and graduate.

This program will provide students with the following benefits:

  • Experiencing new environments and accumulating new experience and skills;
  • Enjoying BUV’s tuition fee during the exchange. Students do not have to pay any tuition fees to the Partner University, however, students will have to pay other expenses such as air tickets, visa, and living expenses, etc.

The Transfer programme is a programme in which students will terminate their studies at BUV, and complete the progamme and receive a degree at his/her desired university.

If students wish to transfer to Staffordshire University (SU), the student will become an SU international student and will pay the tuition fee rate stated by SU. The credits that students have earned while studying SU programmes at BUV will be accepted if the student applies to the same programme because the curricula of SU and BUV are the same. BUV will support students transfer application in facilitating the transfer and providing necessary documents. Students are responsible for visa application and other procedures for his/her stay abroad.

If a student wishes to transfer to other universities, students should be aware that depending on the destination programme and the university that student enrolls in, the number of credits accumulated at BUV may be accepted in whole or in part. Therefore, before making the transfer decision, students and parents should contact and confirm in advance with the university that student wishes to attend regarding credits transfer. BUV will support students with necessary documents and procedures.

Personal Tutors and Learning Support Team members are responsible for two aspects of a students study:

  • To review academic progress and provide academic guidance if needed. It includes guidance on study progress, changing award routes, developing a strategy to recover failed modules, and/or improving performance on particular modules. Students might be required to meet his/her Personal Tutor/Learning Support Team for poor attendance to be informed on how the attendance process works and encouraged to attend fully.
  • To direct student to the right support for any issues which affect his/her ability to perform well in their courses. Students should always keep their Personal Tutor/LST informed of any circumstances which might disturb their study progress and/ or learning satisfaction and achievement. Discussions with the personal tutor/LST are strictly confidential.

It is not compulsory, hence, if students want to meet their Tutor/LST to get advice or support, they should inform Student Information Officer at least one day in advance to set up the meeting.

In times of difficulty, students might apply for a Deferral/ Break-in-Study to put a temporary hold on their study and return when they are ready to perform at their best ability again. Taking a break is a significant decision. A break in study cannot be used to avoid assessments but should be used when the students personal circumstances no longer allows them to continue their studies. Every student is allowed to have minimum 01 term and maximum 01 year of Deferral/ Break-in-Study. There are several things they need to keep in mind before deferring, such as the maximum registration period of the programme (because any break in studies will still count towards the students ), the availability of a suitable cohort when they return and the retake of any incomplete modules/ super modules. If student decided to defer before finishing them because any previous marks on these modules will be cancelled. Having a break in studies would mean that student is no longer studying with the same group of classmates.

Therefore, we highly recommend students to seek advice from their Learning Support Team, Personal Tutor and/or Programme Leaders before making any decisions. We recognise that it can be difficult to choose the right study programme straight away. Hence, BUV allows our students to change their programme within the first 3 weeks of teaching in the first semester, first year of the programme. However, there are a few important things students need to keep in mind if they consider changing to other programmes: the entry requirements of the new programme students might be required to retake Pathway programme if they are transferring to a completely different major/ field of study; the next available intake of the destination programme, the suitability of the student with the desired programme, and the number of completed credits that can be mapped and rolled over to the new programme. Please note that students have a limited number of chances to request for changing programme.

According to Vietnams Laws and Regulations on Health Insurance, all full-time students are required to have valid Health Insurance during their study in Vietnam. BUV as a university, has the responsibility to ensure that all of our students have access to Health Insurance when they study with us. It is not compulsory to purchase Health Insurance via BUV. However, if students already have a valid Health Insurance, it is the students responsibility to inform BUV and provide us with a copy of the Insurance Card to send to our Registered Insurance Office for verification. Please note that only certain types of Insurance are equivalent to the Vietnam Social Securitys Health Insurance. If students current insurance is not qualified to replace Vietnamese Social Securitys Health Insurance, student is still required to purchase Health Insurance either via BUV or individually. A Health Insurance Card contains students personal information; therefore, we would highly recommend student to collect the card themselves. However, if the student is not available, they are required to send us an email authorising someone else to collect the card on their behalf, the email should contain the information of Name, DOB and National ID Number of the assigned person. We will only distribute the card if the person provides the correct information upon arriving. A confirmation email will be sent to student after the assigned person has collected the insurance card.

In emergency cases where students cannot provide an authorisation, we would only allow the card to be collected by the registered fee-payer/ parent. Alternatively, students should register for as recommended by BUV and the Vietnam Social Security department. The information on the VssID App is accepted as the replacement for the Health Insurance Card in case of emergency.

Scholarship recipients will receive a Scholarship Warning letter when they have shown unsatisfactory academic performance in the most recent study period. This warning letter is also sent to the fee-payer/ parent as a notification of the situation. It does not necessarily mean the scholarship has been withdrawn. The letter only serves as a warning to both parents and student of the current situation and the students performance must be improved to meet the scholarship maintenance criteria or student will not be qualified for the scholarship in the next study period. Any matters that affect the students scholarship will be communicated with the fee-payer/ parent before BUV makes any decisions on the withdrawal of the scholarship. It is highly recommended that students keep a copy of this form after signing so they can refer to it when needed. Improving students English skills is always one of the top priorities at BUV as our results show that students with higher level of English tend to achieve better academic results than those having lower English ability. We have a very dedicated English Department which provides various support to students who are willing to improve their English skills. BUV Ecopark Campus is equipped with a large and convenient canteen for all students with both indoor and outdoor facilities. We operate from 8:00am to 3:00pm during weekdays and follow a flexible schedule during weekends. At BUV, students will receive constant support from their Learning Support Team or Personal Tutor throughout their whole journey with us. The academic timetable will allocate at least 01 hour each week for students optional meeting with a member of Learning Support Team/Personal Tutor to discuss any issues or concerns they might have on their academic performance.

They can also make an appointment to meet with our Student Success Lead whenever they need extra support to balance their study and personal life. In addition, student can make private bookings with Module Leader, Programme Leader or Student Welfare Officer if needed via Student Information Office.

BUV has also been implementing a SAR Student At Risk System that allows Faculty and operation staff to flag students that are in need of Academic, Behavioural or Emotional assistance at early stage. It will help us in reaching out to these students before any unwanted consequences.

If students study Stafforshire University (SU) programme, students grades are published on their SU student portal around 10 weeks after the semesters final assessments period. Parents will also receive their son/daughters results via email.

For graduating students who are waiting for official graduate documents, students & parents can also request a temporary transcript that presents all results up to date and a confirmation letter of completion by using your registered email at BUV to write an email to Student Information Office at student-services@buv.edu.vn. The process to generate a temporary transcript will take up to 5 working days and we will inform student when it is ready to pick up.

According to the academic regulations of BUV and Partner University – Staffordshire University, students are only allowed less than 45 credit points failed per level in the normal condition of study to be able to progress to the next level. If students do not attempt or did not get an average pass mark for the module, he/she would be given a deadline to submit a new assessment task to complete the module. This is called a re-sit. If a student passes, he/she will be given a basic pass mark of 40% for undergraduate levels. Late submissions will not be accepted. Students must pay the resit fee by the deadline to be able to resit. If students fail their resit, the case will be brought to the External Examination Board to consider, and Chair of the Board will make decision on next action. The External Examination Board will base on the students academic performance after student takes the resits and decide students study plan, whether student can proceed, resit, retake module(s) or being withdrawn from the programme.

If the External Examination Board decides that student needs to retake a module, students will need to study that module again with all achieved marked wiped clean The student will also need to pay the restudy fee for the module(s) & ensure attendance. Their mark will not be capped for the first retake attempt, but any second attempt is capped at 40% for undergraduate level. On the other hand, a students Academic Misconduct history is retained on file and is taken into account on further academic conduct instances.

After Board decision, a notification about students status of cant proceed would be sent to parents/student who failed 45 credits a level in the normal condition of study or 60 credits a level in Covid period.泭 At the same time, the student will follow the Board decisions to takes resit in order to recover those missing credits. It is strongly advised that parents encourage students to study sufficiently to pass the resit assessments. The resit results will then be considered in the resit Examination Board, and we will update parent the students status as soon as the resit results are available. Students who are in cant proceed status and waiting for resit results are not allowed to attend classes in the first 2 to 3 weeks of the new semester as directed by the Staffordshire University examinations and progression board. Once the students resit results are available, based on the students resit result & status, BUV Finance department would advise the appropriate payment plan for students tuition fee. If students are able to join the semester late through passing resit assessments the normal fees are payable, there is no reduction in fees for the missed classes.

The scholarship requirements are varied among scholarship types and have been informed to the students by their Admission Advisor when receiving the scholarship. The scholarship holder also signed a scholarship acceptance letter which includes the terms and conditions. At the end each semester, all scholarship holders performance will be considered by a Scholarship Panel. Although the final decision will come from the Scholarship Panel before the next semester starts, students can always monitor their performance and check the scholarship condition mentioned in the scholarship agreement. Students can look at the provisional marks found in our Canvas system around 2 months after the semesters completion. If a students result does not meet scholarship maintenance criteria, their scholarship will be potentially withdrawn for the next semester. If student studies Staffordshire University programme, GPA will be calculated at the end of the programme and visible in a students official final transcript. A students final GPA and classification needs to go through a verification process and needs to be agreed by External Examination Board. Therefore, until it is ready and approved to be delivered, BUV can only provide student the provisional GPA to date. The final GPA calculation is 30% of level 5 (Year 2) and 70% of level 6 (Year 3). Overall score & corresponding base classification are as below:

  • From 70% to 100%: First Class Honours
  • From 60% to 69%: Upper Second-Class Honours
  • From 50% to 59%: Lower Second-Class Honours
  • From 40% to 49%: Third Class Honours
  • 39% or below: Fail or Ordinary Degrees (based on total credits gained for each case)

To graduate with an Honours degree the student is required to complete 360 credits.

There is a strict process for confirmation of a students grade and award which involves the External Examination Board. This Board normally takes place around 9 to 10 weeks after students final semester and is scheduled by the Staffordshire University. After the two universities confirm students degree classification and make sure that all graduation conditions are met, we will proceed with Official Transcript and Certificate printing and delivery from UK to Vietnam. This process normally takes up to 6 weeks. However, border custom process and other force majeure such as global transportation restriction due to pandemic may lead to significant delay in the process and the Official Transcript and Certificate may take a couple of months to arrive at BUV. We will inform students by email when the Official Transcript and Certificate are ready to pick up.

As degree certificates and transcripts are vitally important documents, it is advisable that student should collect these documents in person.

In case the student would like to authorise a person to pick up on their behalf, students will need to write an authorisation letter, signed, scanned and sent to Central Academic Information Services (CAIS) team at cais@buv.edu.vn with the authorised persons full name, date of birth, Personal ID card/Passport or equivalent identification document number. Within 1 working day, the CAIS team will confirm this request. The authorised person then needs to present their identification document and sign on a receipt when collect the degree certificate and/or transcript. BUV will scan this receipt and send to student for confirmation.

In case students would like their degree certificate and transcript to be sent by post, students will need to write an email and send to Student Information Office at student-services@buv.edu.vn. Please note that BUV can only send degree certificate and/or transcript to the registered address on the system. Within 1 working day, BUV will confirm the request and timeline for delivery. Students are requested to receive the documents in person as their signature will be required upon delivery.

BUV, however, can issue a transcript showing students PWSU grades at the end of the programme and will inform student to collect it when its available. The assessment schedule for each semester (including assignment and examination) are normally informed to student at the beginning of the semester on Canvas Learning Management system. Detailed examination time frame and location shall be informed to student between week 9 and week 10 of the semester by email. Although it is scheduled, examination dates may be changed due to uncontrollable factors; students are advised not to book any personal travel arrangement until the end of the examination period (week 16 of the semester).

The assessment dates by modules are also provided to all parents during the Parents meeting period in the 6th week of each semester.

Group work and group assessments are an important part of the employability focus of the degree. There is no safe similarity index on Turnitin as it is just one of many indicators to suggest whether the student has committed academic misconduct or not. Sometimes, a paper can have a high percentage of similarity index due to the nature of the assessment. It would be the Module Leader who have created the assessment paper & understand the nature of the paper requirement to decide whether or not the student’s paper have violated BUVs academic conduct regulation. On the other hand, it is also possible that a “0” percentage or very low similarity index is shown for a submission that contains academic misconduct issues. Ensure that the student only submit work that is 100% their own words and meets the requirement of the assessment paper.

The Turnitin system generated the similarity percentage based on the available Turnitin database, online resources and student papers at the time of upload. Therefore, at the time the student initially submits their assignment, Turnitin may not have assignments of other students to compare. As other students submit their assignments, the similarity may increase if the system can detect any parts in submitted assignment that are similar with other students’ work. This may cause the initial similarity to increase when the deadline has passed.

The only way to ensure a low or zero similarity is for students to write in their own words and use correct paraphrasing when they are referring to the work of academics.

Record of Academic misconduct is internal record and will not be displayed in transcript, degree or any document. The Academic Conduct Procedure required panel to make decision based on number of academic misconduct instance, therefore we need to keep record and evidence of how many instance that occurred in the academic journey of student. Rest assured that academic misconduct as well as disciplinary record are strictly confidential information and only a very limited number of people can access, such as Chief Academic Officer, Deputy Chief Academic Officer and Academic Compliance Manager.

If a student transfers between programmes within the same field, such as business, all instances continue to contribute 1 to the count of historical cases. Poor Academic Practice (PAP) IS NOT academic misconduct. Poor Academic Practice happens when student have used too much of others work in their assessment, even when student have acknowledged, and faculty cant tell how much student have learned for themselves. Alternatively, it may be that student havent understood how to reference their work properly, but there is no evidence that student have tried to gain an unfair advantage in their assessment.

For Poor Academic Practice, Personal Tutor will discuss this with student and advise them on how they can improve. PAP will not be recorded in the history of student as Academic Misconduct and also will not be written in any documents, including transcript and certificate.

As there is no impact or sanction, student cannot appeal to a PAP decision

BUV study programmes encourage and enable students to take up internships in their semester breaks every year and they can have up to 4 to 5 internships upon graduation. From October 2021, BUV has implemented the compulsory Personal Development Programme (PDP) where students are required to have at least 1 internship in their PDP Transcript along with other activities in order to complete the degree and be awarded with the Career Readiness Certificate upon graduation. An internship is considered completed and qualified with an internship evaluation form signed and stamped by the Employer and ultimately an internship completion certificate approved by BUV Chief Academic Officer.

Some modules within the Staffordshire Universitys academic programme also require students to complete work placements and internships in order to complete the modules assessment, which is compulsory and must follow specific requirements of the modules, for example the minimum number of working hours, the companys business/scale etc. Together with the Module Leader, BUV Careers Team also support students in these placements to make sure they have the relevant work experience for their module outcome. This required work experience does not replace BUV Internship Programme mentioned earlier.

During the student journey at BUV and in all internship semesters, the Student Experience (SE) Careers Team provides students with a full array of support areas from application preparation, consultation during the internship period, as well as guidance upon completion of internship.

During preparation, students are provided with a variety of opportunities promoted via. BUVs internal email system and social media channels, consultation in internship choices, preparing internship application documents, including but not limited to CV and Cover Letter, Mock Interview & Interview tips. Students applications will be handled by BUV Career support team to the employers until all screening and interview process are completed and students are on board with the company.

During the internship period, BUV team will constantly support students with any issues which may arise and give students guidance to familiarise with the new working environment and adapt with business settings in order to successfully complete the internship while delivering an ambassador image of 91做厙 students to the employers.

After the internship is completed, students will be advised with necessary assistance to professionally end the internship. The SE Careers team will also receive and review the Internship Evaluation Form to generate the Certificate of Internship Completion for students as well as record the students strengths and weaknesses for future support.

Though we provide full service for the internship placement, we aim to empower our students to be responsible for their decisions and actions. We provide them with professional and dedicated career guidance in each step, instead of forcing individual students to go for an internship or stepping in to do the job for them. BUV aims at creating responsible, proactive and empowered graduates who are willing to take up the opportunities and ready for their future.

91做厙 students are encouraged to go for an internship from Year 1. Many 91做厙 students in different generations receive an internship right after their first or second semester at BUV. However, we understand that for Year 1 students, the internships are more about getting familiar with a business world and working life, learning business etiquettes and workplace skills. Their specialised knowledge, technical skills and transferable skills are at the foundation level and will need time to cumulate and learn new things. Therefore, we highly recommend Year 1 students not to limit their options within their specialised internships but broaden their opportunities to what they want to learn in any industry and explore the world of work to find out their best interests, strengths, passion and ultimately a career decision after several exciting trials.

With the network of more than 300 industrial partners and increasing, we commit to provide sufficient internship opportunities to all 91做厙 students in each semester break. Although applications sent via BUV Careers support team are prioritised and well processed by our partners, they make their recruitment decision based on their actual human resource needs and the recruited interns will be assigned with the value-added tasks instead of only being there and observing to learn. As a result, a successful internship offer is the effort of both the student self and BUV SE Careers Team in providing him/her with professional and dedicated career guidance to prove that the student is qualified for the internship position. Although students are encouraged to go for internships during their semester break, we understand that they might have different plans and interests to develop their skills in other areas. Students can use their semester breaks to enhance their skills, explore new things, and broaden their knowledge to be ready for other internship opportunities in later semester breaks. At BUV, during semester breaks, Student Experience Team offer a variety of泭 extra-curricular classes and short courses where students can register and study. Students can find classes information and registration guidelines via students email or on BUV Student Community Fan page every beginning of semester (in January, April, July and October).

Besides, students can also participate in over 30 active clubs & societies alongside extra-curricular activities which are organized regularly throughout every semester. Students are also encouraged to found new clubs and initiate new projects to add value to the student community and develop an array of transferable skills for themselves and their team via organising these activities. BUV SE team is open to all proposals and project and are always willing to accompany students to realise and implement their ideas.

Going for an internship isnt only about enhancing specialised skills and knowledge, but also about exploring what is available and waiting for them in the labour market. On the one hand, an internship helps students getting familiar with working life, learning business etiquettes and workplace skills either the workplace is in the office building, in service sectors or on project site. On the other hand, the student can try out different roles in different industries and in different organisations scales to reaffirm what they are good at, what motivates them most at work, or what they want to avoid in their career. We believe that our students after completing internships in diverse areas have been equipped with a wide range of experience and be more certain in their future career decisions.

As a part of BUVs support process for students during any internship placement, after all interviews with our partners, we always ask for employers feedback about each student so that we can support the student to improve themselves by conveying the employers message in a constructive approach to the student, discussing with the students about their gaps, and coming up with some solutions for future improvements. We also provide mock interview sessions for students anytime they wish to get them better prepared in any future interviews.

In case a student cannot pass internship interviews multiple times, SE Careers Team and the student will sit down again and figure out the reasons that may hinder their performance, for example what are the real reasons causing the repeated mistakes, any psychological problems that need support, or unsuitable internship selection strategy. We will also refer the student to our Student Well-being Counsellor to consult if necessary.

Internship offers from BUV industrial partners can be either paid or unpaid based on each companys policy. In most companies, an intern is paid with a stipend to support them with transportation costs or lunch; the companies might also choose to provide students with uniforms and lunch instead of cash. For some companies, and especially high-qualified positions, an intern can be paid similar to an entry-level staff. For some others, the internship is unpaid. However, no泭 financial support or little payment does not mean that the employer does not appreciate the contribution of the interns. Instead of financial benefits, they offer their human resources and expertise to provide on-the-job training for the interns; facilitate workstation for the interns with laptop/PC, phones, and stationary; meals during shifts, and accepting the risks that the interns may struggle with their work at first. We suggest that if the students dont have financial pressure for their daily life, they should not put income as their top priority in internships but other learning opportunities because they are major career boosters, not to mention an unforgettable experience. Internships enable students to pick up invaluable work skills, lay the foundation of their professional network, and get a foot in the career door. The internship may benefit students tremendously, still, its important that students remain aware of their rights and does not let anyone take advantage of them. The internship programmes purpose is to create a real-life learning experience for students from which they can reflect on what they have done well, what they should improve, and their next steps in their career exploration journey. The students performance during the internship is evaluated by their supervisor at the company and the Internship Evaluation Form when submitted to BUV is a reference for us to provide suitable career guidance for them.

If a student wants to achieve an Internship Completion Certificate and gain credit points for the completed internship for his/her Personal Development Programme Transcript, (s)he must get an Internship Evaluation Form signed and stamped by the Employer and submit to BUV Student Experience Team by the deadline communicated by the Team. Late submissions will be flexibly considered and approved by the Head of Academic and Student Operations case by case, based on the situation and exceptional circumstances.

We believe Covid-19 has also changed the way the world and companies work. Remote and virtual working has become a trend now and will continue in the future based on different researches. If companies are continuing to work from home with social distancing, we have a lot of partners that are providing several full-time/part-time remote internship opportunities not only in Vietnam but also in other countries in Asia and Europe. While some international placements also require a placement fee from students, BUV will support our students with financial sponsorship subject to their application in order to maximise the opportunities for our student body.

The Student Experience Department is offering various extra-curricular classes and short courses and they are open for registration at every beginning of new semester in January, April, July and October. Students will be kept updated of the timeline via their BUV mailbox and parents can also be informed via BUV monthly newsletter as well as the Facebook pages mentioned earlier.

The currently offered short courses at BUV include:

91做厙 students do not have to pay for the course tuition fee. However, they need to make a deposit payment at the registration stage to secure a slot for these classes and it serves as their commitment to complete the course and pass relevant assessments. We believe that students will be more responsible and committed if they have paid a securing payment and will aim to have better performance and achieve better outcome. At the end of the course, the deposit will be refunded if students fully complete the course and pass the final tests.

BUVs Well-being and Psychological Counselling Office is the department for well-being concerns and psychological counselling requests of all students. The department provides a wide range of well-being support to our students by organising life skill and well-being workshops available for all students, tea-talks which suit smaller groups with special concerns, and other well-being activities such as exhibitions or campaigns.
